Thank you!

24th Oct 2023

CIFF 2023 has ended: another successful festival with many delights throughout: two stimulating Q&As with the Festival’s guest, Kathryn Millard, after screenings of her films LIGHT YEARS and THE BOOT CAKE; perfect introductions to films by Dr Gino Moliterno and Dr Russell Smith; seamless presentation and event management by the staff of the National Film and Sound Archive; and enthusiastic audiences with spontaneous applause after each film. Crowds were excellent, including a full house for Kathryn Millard’s LIGHT YEARS. Many thanks to the Festival committee, led by President Isabelle Faure.

All in all, a great endorsement of the concept of a curated retrospective film festival!

It was also very rewarding to see audiences becoming familiar with the work of Mitchell Leisen and growing more enthusiastic with each of the three films of his that we screened. MIDNIGHT with Claudette Colbert seemed to be especially enjoyed, and it was great to see it on the big screen with a responsive crowd.

The Festival President, Isabelle Faure, the Committee and management team offer sincere thanks to our sponsors:

  • The Motion Picture Association (Asia Pacific)
  • The Friends of the National Film and Sound Archive
  • Ronin Films

and to our Venue Partner, the National Film and Sound Archive.

We also thank all of the generous individuals who have made donations towards our 2024 Festival, through our platform on the Australian Cultural Fund website.
