SUPPORTING CIFF

With the re-direction of ACT Government arts funding, CIFF needs to re-build its financial support in order to create a sustainable future for itself as an event with professional programming and management.

The basic goal established by the CIFF Committee is that CIFF should focus on distinguishing itself in a crowded festival landscape, by positioning itself as a fully retrospective film festival (including new films that deal with aspects of film history).

FUND-RAISING TARGET

The goal for fund-raising lies between $40,000 for a 3 day event and $160,000 for a 10 day event.

The minimum version of CIFF is 3 days, budgeted at $60,000. Allowing for cash reserves and ticket sales, this will require approx. $40,000 to be raised from sponsors and philanthropy for a 3-day event.

BUDGET ALLOCATION

Approx 50% of the target amounts (from $40,000 to $160,000) will be spent on Festival administration; and approx. 50% on programs, guests and promotion.

IF TARGETS ARE EXCEEDED …

If more than $40,000 is raised, the event will expand beyond the basic 3 days as far as funding permits, whether to 4 days or 5 or more, up to a maximum of ten days. If funding exceeds $160,000, any surplus will be held over for 2020.
